The Ford’s standard V-6 earns 25 mpg highway* while generating a less generous 282 horsepower/253 lb.ft.-torque. Furthermore, the 2016 Ford F-150 has a standard six-speed automatic transmission while the 2016 RAM 1500 can boast an eight-speed automatic transmission. The TorqueFlite 8 system has been recognized for its ability to reduce fuel use and to make the most of each horse under the hood. With more gears, the Ram can shift more smoothly, especially with its low rpm torque. Thermal management manages the temperature of the automatic transmission fluid, improving efficiency and ensuring durability.
