Serving Dublin, Columbus, Hilliard, Westerville, Marysville, OH

Avid campers, hunters, boaters, and other outdoor enthusiasts are sure to appreciate the adventure that waits for them in a Wrangler. Now that the 2016 edition is here, it’s time to ask how it’s different from the successful 2015 Jeep Wrangler. One thing’s for certain, there are major off-roading possibilities whichever one you choose.

Powertrain

Since the 2015 Wrangler has a best-in-class V6, Jeep stuck with this smart unit for the 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The powertrain is rated for 285 horsepower. The 260 lb.-ft. of torque thrust can be harnessed at lower revs, which helps with off-road adventures. The 2015 Wrangler also has best-in-class four-wheel drivetrains. So, again, Jeep stuck with these 4x4s for the new 2016 Wrangler. The standard system is considered best-in-class for snow and other winter challenges. Called Command-Trac, it moves power between the four wheels to create traction on and off the road. For extreme challenges, the Wrangler’s Rock-Trac four-wheel drivetrain is considered best-in-class. These 4x4 systems have Selec-Terrain to allow the driver to ask for more assistance. Both models of Wranglers offer hill descent control. This regulates speed when travelling downhill. Wranglers are offered with manual and automatic transmissions that are tough enough to handle the SUV's adventurous spirit.

Appearance

The Wrangler has become popular with many different types of drivers, and Jeep works hard to accommodate their needs. The 2016 Wrangler has updated the interior with more soft touches and higher quality materials. Like the 2015 edition, it offers illuminated cup holders as well as footwell lighting. The Wrangler’s Uconnect system has been upgraded to do more and to do it faster. In addition to the touchscreen, the Wrangler offers duplicate controls on the steering wheel. Of course, the SUV still has removable doors, a fold-down windshield, two soft-top roof choices, and an alternate hardtop roof. Whether it’s the 2015 or 2016, the Wrangler offers the most open air ride available on a mainstream vehicle.

For 2016, the Wrangler has added some special new editions and some new colors. The Sahara trim has been updated to provide an even cushier interior with a special Olive Green option. The new Black Bear edition is named for a dangerous pass in the Colorado Mountains and wears a special map and many unique accents. A power dome hood adds a special look to the 75th Anniversary edition. Based on the Sahara, the Backcountry Edition has dressy leather seating, extensive dash tech, and an Alpine sound system. This brings the number of trim levels up to 11. There's sure to be one that's right for you.

Safety

The 2015 and 2016 Jeep Wranglers both take a serious approach to safety. Six airbags are tucked into the cabin for your protection. For 2016, new floor reinforcements hold the B pillar, increasing crush resistance. Four-wheel drivetrains add greater traction control in the trickiest road conditions. A fully-padded sports bar adds protection on the trail. Wide-spaced frame rails flank the fuel tank, and vital components are protected by skid plates.
