Performance
All 2016 Jeep Wranglers are powered by a 285 horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with 260 lb-ft of torque. Four-wheel drive comes standard with low-range and high-range gearing. The six-speed manual transmission is standard with hill start assist, and an optional five-speed automatic transmission comes with hill start assist and descent control. In Edmunds performance testing, a Jeep Wrangler with manual transmission achieved zero to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds, while the Wrangler Unlimited with an automatic transmission took 8.8 seconds. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 17 city/21 highway* for the Jeep Wrangler and 16 city/21 highway* for the Wrangler Unlimited with manual transmission and 16 city/20 highway* with the automatic.
Interior
The interior has been refined in recent years with an upright, modern, curvy instrument panel, soft-touch materials at elbow rests, and trim features a machined or bezel look. The Jeep Wrangler holds four adults while the Wrangler Unlimited accommodates five. The Jeep interior features a standard tilt-adjustable steering wheel, cloth bucket seats with driver height adjustment, temperature gauge and compass gauge, cruise control, and an anti-theft engine immobilizer. Power windows, heated power mirrors, leather steering wheel, air conditioning, automatic climate control, and remote keyless entry are optional.
Features
While the standard features are quite sparse, consisting of an AM/FM/CD unit with eight-speaker sound system and auxiliary audio jack, available options in higher trim levels include Alpine speakers with all-weather subwoofer, Bluetooth phone connectivity, MyGIG music storage, Sirius Satellite Radio, a 30GB media center stereo with 6.5-inch touch screen, navigation, a trip computer, a tire pressure monitor display, and a USB port.
Safety
Standard safety equipment for the 2016 Jeep Wrangler includes antilock brakes, stability control and traction control, front airbags.
