This Jeep lineup gives drivers options on many different fronts. Two different engines and three available transmissions give the Compass a high level of utility across the board. The base model features a 2-liter, four-cylinder that is capable of producing 158 horsepower. The all-wheel-drive version of this Jeep offers drivers 172 horsepower thanks to the 2.4-liter engine. While the standard equipment for most trim levels is an automatic six-speed, the Sport is given a five-speed transmission with a manual gearbox. In order to provide the optimal amount of off-road freedom, a continuously variable transmission is available for all models as well. Despite the fact that this vehicle is uniquely equipped for off-road action, it is smooth and high performing in variety of city and highway conditions. The Compass represents one of the first redesigns on the interior for this model in quite a long time. The result is a strip-down version of its former self. It eliminates many of the frills of the past in order to focus on functionality, utility, and durability. The trim and upholstery has been replaced with more resilient materials that include more pleasing and tactile elements. For example, sports-mesh vinyl with accent stitching is prevalent in many areas, increasing cargo space and accessibility. The palette of colors also grows in 2016, allowing drivers to choose between appealing finishes such as Mojave Sand and the Eco Green Clear Coat.

The total package for this Jeep is more focused, allowing the features to deliver more to drivers. Power windows and doors, key-less entry, fog lamps, and cruise control all come standard.
